# Reminders

> Automatic and manual client reminders that chase outstanding items.

Clivanta chases outstanding request items for you, so your team doesn't have to send the same follow-up emails every period.

## Automatic reminders

Set a reminder **cadence** at the firm level, and override it per engagement when needed. Clivanta evaluates active engagements on a schedule and sends chase and overdue reminders for items that are genuinely outstanding (`requested` or `needs revision`). Because reminders read the same audited status as your worklist, they never chase something the client already sent.

## Escalation

When an item stays overdue, Clivanta can escalate — creating a firm follow-up task so a human picks it up, rather than emailing into the void indefinitely.

## Manual reminders

Need to nudge a specific client now? Send a manual reminder for an item without waiting for the cadence.

## Client pause

A client can **pause** reminders on an item via a logged acknowledgment — useful when they genuinely can't get to it this week. The item stays open and keeps its status; only the email cadence quiets. Submitting the item, or a firm resume, clears the pause.

<Note>
  Pausing affects email cadence only, never the item's lifecycle status. Nothing gets lost.
