# Quickstart for firms

> From zero to your first sent request in five minutes.

This walkthrough takes you from creating your firm to sending your first request to a client.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create your firm">
    Register at [your Clivanta app](https://app.clivanta.com/register). You become the first **Partner/Admin** — the person who can invite the rest of your team and manage settings. Your firm starts on a **14-day free trial**, no card required.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a client">
    Create a **Client** — the company or individual you serve. Add a **Client Owner** (their primary contact), who will be able to see everything outstanding for that client and log into the portal.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start an engagement">
    Create an **Engagement** — the service relationship (e.g. "Acme Ltd — VAT Compliance"). If you have a **Pack** for that service type, the standard request items are copied in automatically. Otherwise, add request items directly.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send it">
    When you send the engagement, its request items become visible to the client, and Clivanta notifies the recipients. Draft items become `requested`; the client sees exactly what's outstanding.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review and accept">
    As the client uploads, review each submission. **Accept** it (the document becomes evidence) or **request a revision** with a structured reason. Reminders chase anything still outstanding automatically.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What happens next

Once an engagement is active, Clivanta keeps it moving for you:

* **Reminders** chase overdue items on your firm's cadence.
* **The audit trail** records every status change, with actor and timestamp.
* **Recurring services** auto-generate the next period when you close one.
